Why do Pilates?: FAQ

IS PILATES BENEFICIAL FOR MEN?

Absolutely. Pilates increases flexibility, which is a common challenge for men. It also strengthens important muscle groups that are often neglected, such as the lower abdominals which lie below the "six-pack" muscle. These muscles are necessary to promote stability, greater core strength, and prevent low back injury.

DOES PILATES HELP YOU RECOVER FROM AN INJURY?

Yes. Both doctors and physical therapists frequently recommend Pilates to help recovery  from an injury. A regular Pilates practice may also help you to avoid injury.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO DO PILATES?

Pilates may be done with just a mat. You can also add small props such as resistance bands, Magic Circles, and light weights. However, if you have the opportunity to work out on Pilates Equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrel), you should try it! The equipment adds increased resistance through the use of springs to provide an added challenge.
